Located at Neches and 9th Street in downtown Austin, the hotel is a nice addition to the Red River Cultural District. The entertainment district participates heavily in the South by Southwest Music Festival which drove several design decisions. The project was designed to interact with activities in the district as well as provide a quiet guest room environment. Primarily this was achieved by opening the lobby and bar and bar seating to the outside with operable exterior walls overlooking 9th Street. Additionally, local art is incorporated at wall panels along 9th at the parking garage level that is partially above grade. An enhanced three pane window system provided guests with peace during evening concerts in the area. In addition to standard building codes, this project was designed to meet the Austin Energy Green Building Program. The project is also an early adopter of the newest 2.0 prototype design. Along with the new finishes, the hotel features an interior courtyard providing and outdoor patio atmosphere including a fire pit and pool area.
